UK Defence Industry
The maintenance of a UK indigenous Defence Industrial capability is crucial for national security, but also relies upon exports to maintain its cohesion. The Industry is frequently at the forefront of technological innovation for other sectors, and is constantly under change due to global forces and supply chain rationalization. Increasingly, UK defence companies are also very active in products and services for national security, humanitarian relief, counter terrorism and peace keeping activities and their global reputation for technical and qualitative excellence is well known in many of these fields. For companies new to the defence market, understanding the market needs and how to engage in them can be a difficult task. The DMA is well equipped to help such firms.
The DMA
The MISSION of the Association is to assist UK Industry to benefit from Defence business at home and overseas.
The key to this is networking, and the DMA is the only UK Trade Association able fully to represent all aspects of Defence and Public Security procurement covering land, sea and air interests for domestic and overseas markets. The three pillars of the DMA are Representation, Services for Members and Events/Networking. The Association is a one stop consultancy shop on Defence issues, and runs a number of sector Industry groups and these are shown under the Special Interest Group pages. It works closely with its sister Association APPSS (Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers) in the Homeland Defence sector.
