Representation
UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and government bodies - The DMA is officially recognised by the MoD as representing the interests of the UK Defence Industry and its sound links and contacts at all levels within the UK government are of exceptional value to UK companies operating within the sector.
Through the DMA’s associations with the MoD (UK) and the UK Department of Trade and Industry, it offers input to discussions on operational requirements and procurement policy, participates on specialist committees and informal meetings and therefore provides Member companies with a wealth of information and contacts.
Council representation - The DMA is represented on both the Defence Industries Council (DIC) and National Defence Industries Council (NDIC) where policy matters affecting Industry are discussed by senior industrialists and with Government Ministers and officials.
Contracts - The DMA maintains a standing committee which meets frequently with the purpose of advancing Members’ interests. It works closely with the CBI Defence Procurement Panel.
Liaison - The DMA has representatives and contacts at home and in many overseas countries. These include:
- Armed forces
- Main defence contractors
- Foreign and Commonwealth office personnel
- UK and overseas based Commercial Attaches
- The US Department of Defense and the Defense Logistics Agency

The DMA also has a dedicated Exhibitions Unit which organises British group attendance at major overseas defence exhibitions and co-ordinates inward and outward missions to help promote Industry to overseas government procurement agencies and main defence contractors.
The Association has a comprehensive seminar programme which anticipates the needs of Industry and provides information relating to the MoD (UK), new business opportunities, the provision of market data and other briefing material to delegates.
