EEZING
Exclusive Economic Zone Industry Group
Typically the geographical areas of Exclusive Economic Zone operations include the necessary shore infrastructure and ports and harbours, the air space and tract of ocean up to 200 miles from the coast and this often extends to the limit of the continental shelf beyond 200 miles.
Trade Partners UK and the UK Ministry of Defence (DESO) see the global EEZ market as a major growth opportunity in the next few years, as those nationswhich might have signed up to the UN Convention of the Law of the Sea need to provide the management and control systems of their EEZs to meet the legislation.
Capabilities required to manage EEZs include:
- Surveillance systems (air, sea, land and space based, survey systems)
- command and control systems
- policing systems (vessels, aircraft, Coastguard, SAR)
- pollution control systems
- Training and financing, through life support and potential turnkey solutions
