Maritime Interest Group

The Maritime Interest Group of the DMA has been set up to support the interests of DMA Members in the maritime defence sector. Membership of the group is free to any DMA member and the aim of the group is to provide a focus for maritime defence activities and to offer advice on defence issues both for the home and overseas markets. The extent of such business is wide and varied, breaking down into the following sectors.

Serving all these sectors effectively under a common maritime banner is a challenging task, and is approached through:

  1. Seminars and briefings from MOD officials
  2. Exhibitions
  3. Sea days and special customer events
  4. Feedback from Government and NGO information
  5. Individual company advice and support

In addition, there is a meeting for all MIG members approximately every 2 months and usually on board the HMS Wellington in London. At this meeting we invariably have a key MOD guest speaker who then joins in discussion, as well as covering relevant maritime issues in an informal manner.

The DMA manager for the MIG is on the following Committees, where views of members can be represented:

A subset of the MIG concentrates on Exclusive Economic Zone Exports (EEZE).
